Coochbehar Shishu Kishore Sanstha
We have two-dimensional activities – one is short-term and the other is long-term. Short-term activities are occasional and they are open to all school children up to standard ‘XII’. They include Art and Literary Festival, Observation of Birth anniversaries of the great personalities, holding a debate, deliberation and workshops, children’s film and drama festival, nature study camps and helping the poor and the distressed of the society and organizing the yearly cultural and dramatical festival for the children and the adolescents. Long-term work includes running “Chhotoder Theatre School” and publishing a children’s literary periodical named “Sabujmon”.
“Sabujmon” Publication
It is a literary little magazine for budding authors. Every healthy min has a thought or an idea to develop. What the children of the day think of their world and the world we are in must find their expression, because they are the only citizens of the future world. So, they should have the mold of their minds in the caring direction for the future world, and thing magazine gives them the opportunity to express their mind. The result is that we already own a young batch of good writers who are going to be matured in this field. Even the established writers from West Bengal contribute to this magazine on children’s matters. There is ample scope to publish special issues on theatre, music, drawing, dance, science, personalities, sport, and many other subjects of child interest.
Chhotoder Theatre School
For the past thirteen years this school runs regularly on Saturdays and Sundays every week from 3:30 pm. At 5:30 pm. At first, we felt the need for a playground for the children of the locality. Then we approached the local municipal authority to have such a space and we are very much grateful to mention here that the then chairman graced us with not only the open space but also with written permission to use two rooms of the Nivedita Academy for use of this drama school for children. Children learn here free of cost
